Caryn Mandabach Productions is a transatlantic scripted production company based in London and Los Angeles, owned by award-winning producer Caryn Mandabach. CMP develops and produces character-led drama and comedy that is highly compelling and resonant, whether period or contemporary.
FOUNDER AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE
Caryn Mandabach is a multi-award winning television producer whose ground-breaking US hits include Nurse Jackie, Roseanne, Third Rock from the Sun and That 70s Show. Having set up the production company in 2006, Caryn divides her time between London and LA.
Jamie has developed and produced television in the UK since the nineties – working for many leading production companies including Talkback, Tiger Aspect and HatTrick. His credits include The 11'O Clock Show, High Spirits with Shirley Ghostman, and BAFTA-nominated The IT Crowd. Jamie is responsible for the UK slate, managing funded developments with several British broadcasters and working as an EP on Peaky Blinders, which has been commissioned for a fourth and fifth series by the BBC.
HEAD OF LA OFFICE
Michael Besman joined CMP in 2013. A veteran film producer, his credits include such award winning films as The Opposite of Sex, Seven Years in Tibet and About Schmidt. Other development and production credits over his 30-year career include Adventures in Babysitting, Batman (1990), Single White Female, Remains of the Day, Jumanji, Sleepless in Seattle and As Good As It Gets. Michael heads up the LA office – developing projects for the US market and sourcing US talent for international projects.
Susan has responsibility for managing and co-ordinating CMP's commercial affairs, PR and financial matters, and helps devise and implement CMP's overall commercial strategy. Prior to joining the company in January 2016, Susan ran Power Entertainment Media, the London-based international distributor and co-producer of drama and factual television content where she oversaw all aspects of the business from strategy, operations, commercial and business affairs, content development through to acquisitions. Recent drama co-productions included New Worlds.
HEAD OF PRODUCTION
David joined CMP in 2016 as Head of Production after line producing notable British TV dramas including Humans, Grantchester and the first series of Utopia for Kudos, The Thirteenth Tale for Heyday Films, and taking Doctor Who to Utah and New York for the BBC. Before joining Eileen Quinn’s Monogram Productions in 2001 as Line Producer, he had several years experience as a 1st AD and Production Manager, with credits including Hornblower, Gormenghast and The Buccaneers.
Abi joined CMP in 2014, working with Jamie on both UK and international projects. Formerly a journalist, she has written and worked for a number of publications, including The Guardian, Independent and Architects' Journal, and continues to use her experience as a basis for research-led development.
DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT, LA
Caleb supports Michael in the US office and undertakes a wide range of research tasks, including market performance and areas for development.
Esther trained at RADA as a stage manager and worked in the theatre before moving into TV and film as an assistant director. Credits include Sex and Lies and Judge John Deed. In 2006, she became Richard Attenborough’s assistant working initially on Closing the Ring, then expanding to work on all aspects of his business. In recent years she has worked for Fremantlemedia and NBCUniversal, joining CMP in October 2016.
Bethan joined CMP as development executive in January 2017. She is focused on originating and developing new scripted projects and expanding and maintaining the slate. She has previously worked internationally developing original co-productions for NBC’s channels arm, Universal Networks, and most recently worked at a development executive for Working Title Television. She also freelanced for two years as script consultant and story researcher for companies including Eleven Film, Playground Television, Euston Films, Eleventh Hour and Kudos.
